The Parliament of India is the Supreme Legislative body of the country and is BiCameral in nature.​​​ The Parliament consists of the office President of India and two houses of Legislature.

The Indian parliament is made up of 790 Members. The Members of Parliament (MPs) are based on proportional representation of each state, and can belong to either house.
 
The MP's of the Lok Sabha are elected by the public, while the MP's of the Rajya Sabha are elected by the members of the State legislative assemblies.
 
The President of India can also nominate members to the Parliament.
RAJYA SABHA
​​​​​​​​​​A member of the Rajya Sabha is a representative of the States in the Union Legislature.

The representatives must be elected by the Legislative Assembly of States and Union territories by means of single transferable
vote through proportional representation.

12 nominated by the president

The respresentatives must have special knowledge in various areas like arts and science and are not entitled to vote in Presidential elections.
ROLE
The Rajya Sabha has special powers to declare, that, it is necessary and expedient in the national interest, that Parliament may make laws with respect to a matter in the State List, or to create by law one or more all-India services common to the Union and the States.​​

Leader of the House

The Leader of the House is an important
parliamentary functionary who exercises direct influence
on the course of parliamentary business.
​ The Leader of the House draws up the programme
of official business to be transacted in a session of
Parliament.

The responsibility of the Leader of the House is not only to the Government and its supporters in the House, but to the Opposition and to the House as a whole.

Role and responsibility
to maintains liaison between the Government and the Opposition groups in the House.

The member is the guardian of the legitimate rights of the Opposition as well as those of the Government.

As such, the member should be among the foremost champions of the rights and privileges of the House as a whole.

The member has to see that the House is not denied its rightful opportunities despite pressure from any quarters.​​

 Lok Sabha is the House to which the Council of Ministers is responsible under the Constitution. ​​

Money Bills can only be introduced in Lok Sabha.

Also it is Lok Sabha which grants the money for running the administration of the country.
Members of Lok Sabha are directly elected by the eligible voters. ​​​​
